42 Years and Counting!
My husband's ears perked up when he heard about this challenge, so I decided to make this heart for him. He loves green; I love purple, so I made the fabric/heart. The heart looked pretty plain so I sliced the heart/background fabric, and attached the cream fabric to the black with a gold zigzag. The re-positioned heart represents us as we have changed over the years. I also ended up with a little pocket with a frayed edge, again a nod to the years. I added the trinket for the pocket, but still wanted more fun. So I made the chains of hearts on the heart. I also added batting behind the heart and stitched around the heart with a transparent thread to puff out the heart.
I talked with my LQS owner who suggested mounting it on a stretched canvas that would stand when I said we already had so much stuff for our walls. Unfortunately the canvas isn't deep enough to stand independently. Wonderful husband suggests we hang it like a picture. ~ Willa D.

Love the colours & the way you have slashed the heart & made it crazy. Just thought of a title for it. "Crazy for your love"
Love everything about this project. Maybe a little weight at the bottom of the frame would help it to stand up.
Thanks for both suggestions!
adorable-luv the quilt and the story!
I do like your split, offset heart and your fabric choices are terrific.
I love this - the fabrics, the off-set of the piecing, the embellishments!
