Fun quilt!

Nerida W. from AU made this fun quilt with her scraps...  Love that fun pattern!
Hoping to meet her when I go back to AU in April 2016 for the Australian Quilt Convention!

ahhhh, LOVE this. wondering if Nerida from AU would share some specifics of this quilt---is this her own design? and if not, what is the pattern? I think it's terrific!

What a great design! So scrappy and so modern. Love the brown background with all those brights, too.

What a fun scrap-buster!! Looks like offset log cabin spirals and definitely one for the inspiration folder. Thanks for sharing :)

My inspiration was a quilt I saw that was one big spiral made from a jelly roll & one solid background colour. I thought the idea would translate well with 'made' fabric. The tangent I took was to use wider strips and smaller blocks. The "made" strips are foundation pieced onto 3 1/2 in width scrap muslin leftovers from another project. "Make" lots of strips (and then some more!) and trim them to the 3 1/2 inch foundation. Start from the centre with 1 x "made" square and 1 x brown square both 3 1/2 inch x 31/2 inch and build from there in log cabin style. Blocks are 15 1/2 inches x 18 1/2 inches. There is also a 4 inch final border added to visually "float" the blocks.

Thanks for the detailed instructions Nerida! Love the offset rows and the way they are framed to float the whole design.
