A BEAUTIFUL MINI QUILT

I came back from a walking holiday in the Scottish Highlands and found this! What could it be?
All the way from Australia!

It was the most beautiful Mini Quilt. I love it - the lovely made fabric squares, the binding, the yellow bird in the middle, the quilting and the unusual fabrics - it is exquisite. Stacey showed this on the 15 minute Flickr site and I left a comment three weeks ago saying that I loved it, not knowing it was coming to me. Thank you Stacey, thank you, I so appreciate it.

This is the back - an extra surprise.

And talking of extra surprises, Stacey included this fantastic Australian pink fabric.

Thank you, Stacey.

Something From Nothing Mini from Sandy

This 12 x 12 is even prettier in person - the colors are much more vibrant.  There are also 3 cute buttons in the lower right that add just the right touch.  Thanks, Sandy!

My Mini is Finished! I think......

I quilted my 12 x 12 mini and took it along with me to Paducah last week.  I found some great beads to embellish it.

After I stitched 3 beads onto the upper righthand corner, it really looked "finished" to me.  What do you all think?  Add more beads, or is it finished?

I am planning to mail this to my swap partner tomorrow.  This has been a really fun challenge/swap!

I Got My 12 x 12!!

I received my 12 x 12 from my partner today!!  Thank you Helen.  I love it!  Every time I look at it I will think of you, Victoria's second mom, up in New York wearing your vest. lol   It came to school so I was a little surprised when my principal brought this package to me.  (I didn't realize I had given that address to Victoria)  My principal thought I should make some placemats like that - he doesn't understand the concept of a quilt being an art piece and he said it was too small to be a quilt!  Some people!!  : )   I am taking the one I made up to school tomorrow to show him - He has never seen any of my quilting stuff since I am new to the building this year and he doesn't really know me.  He did love the subway map fabric you put on the back.  (He really loved the whole thing and thought it was wonderful, but couldn't fathom that we would call it a quilt - I've got some educating to do!  He is a former mechanic and I only have 5 more weeks since he is retiring this year.)  Anyway, I will quit rambling and say one more time, thank you!! Now to get mine in the mail tomorrow along with a signature block to Victoria.
