Eri's Tessallation Wreath

This exquisite miniature quilt was made by Eri Sakakibara.  The teeny colored shapes are all cut from 'made fabric' and must be seen to be believed!  The pieced mitered border really sets off this little beauty.

Here's my mini... done before the deadline.
It was great fun to tackle.   I especially wanted to try making the border without an obvious miter or straight joint.
The black and white section was done using templates and machine piecing.   The border, too, was machine pieced.    And a bit of hand quilting sandwiched it all together.

Happy Thanksgiving.   Here in Wisconsin that means deer hunting, too.  So I thought this photo of  with the "shed" antler and leaves would help communicate the size of the crumbs in this 12" x 12" block. ~ Peggy R

Progress - 15 minute style

I decided on a red background instead of white - because it's dark and seemed more fitting.
Plus, I love red and have wanted to see what this looked like for a long time.
Making the 9 patches with mini's was very time consuming and this is about an hour's work.

I have to feed the patches in slowly so they don't go all wonky.  Sometimes they did that anyway and sometimes they got completely stuck.  That's when this came in handy.  A stiletto.  Does anyone else have this in their bag of tricks?

Mini Amish Modern

Here is my interpretation of the Amish bar quilt modernized.  This is my mini challenge quilt and was fun to make.  After piecing the middle section together, I knew I wanted to do a "wide" border in orange and this fabric practically jumped out of the drawer at me.   I held it up to the middle section and was sold immediately that this was the right fabric.  When I was pressing it, I realized that it is orange, white and brown - not black - I looked to see if there was anything else I wanted to use and nope - not a thing jumped out at me.  So, this one it is and even close up, it looks almost black and is perfect for this little quilt top.  Now to get it quilted, bound and labeled.  Thank you for the challenge Victoria.  I have always wanted to make a bar quilt, but just haven't gotten around to it.
