My 2 Stripes, Plaids, and Dots blocks

I used pieces ONLY from my scrap box.  What fun - and like a previous poster, I noticed I don't have very many plaids.  I think it's from my beginner days, when I avoided plaids and stripes because I was afraid they'd accentuate my mistakes.  With liberated quilting and making fabric, it's not a problem. So I guess I'd better stock up on some more plaids. (What? Add more fabric to my stash?)

Challenge blocks for Victoria

Challenge blocks

I'd been working with shades of red and decided to continue on that path for the block on the left. When I went looking through my scraps for stripes, I kept finding plaids ... and the idea for the plaid house with polka dot sky block.

Polka Dots, Checks & Stripes

For V's dots, checks and stripes challenge -
I just love this subtle giant dot fabric.

Sort of wave runner-esque.

This was completely accidental having to do with being half asleep, cat water bowl, 1 cold foot, and a scooped up sock from the laundry basket. Guess I have these blocks on the brain!

Playing with scraps X 2

Do you remember way back when we did a scrap swap?  You do, good!  I was very lucky to receive a big bundle of scraps from Glen.  I've been slowly playing with them off and on, and in particularly a little scrap of black and greens already started caught my eye... which lead to a fusion of blacks and greens ...

I love how they all play so nicely together, and I knew exactly what I could use some of this for, after all, I can keep on sewing and adding to the bits I haven't used ...

Don't they look great as journal covers!

I'm not done with these green scraps yet Glen!

And I've been doing my homework too!  These are my blocks for the Spots, checks and stripes challenge ...

V, I had a great time playing outside my normal colour range here, so very pretty,  I was having so much fun, I'll be sending you a little extra to play with, if you're up for a challenge!  I still have more of these scraps, and again, I'm not done with them yet!

And without even  knowing, I've been sewing all the scraps of my current project together as I've gone along, so more on that one soon!

Intuition and Blocks

While working on my Intuition quilt, I have discovered that the bottom half is not totally square and it is larger than the top half. I haven't decided what I am going to do about that yet. Here is the latest section I have worked on and then the two sections up on my design wall.

Since I can't make up my mind on where to go for now, I decided to work on some blocks for Victoria. I have pictures of two of them here, but I have since made a third block that is rectangular. I can't wait to get them in the mail and up on her design wall.

Dots, stripes and plaids

I nearly forgot about this challenge. Fortunately I was reminded when I visited earlier today and saw some other awesome blocks for this challenge. I had a little time tonight and thought before this slips my mind again I better get it done.
I went through my scrap bins and pulled out all my little bits of dots, stripes and plaids. I found I had lots and lots of dots but not so many stripes and plaids. Hopefully someone else had the opposite problem and it will all even out in the quilt.

I had fun making these two blocks and can't wait to see what they look like with the other blocks that are created for this challenge.

Dots, Stripes & Plaids

I had a bunch of dot, stripe and plaid scraps out from projects I have been working on recently so I grabbed a couple of handfuls and put these blocks together for V's challenge last night. Holy tropical colors, Batman! These make me want to put on a madras sundress and sit in the sun eating mangoes and guavas. I am imagining a whole quilt in these colors = happiness!

Victoria's Challenge

I got a bit carried away and have completed four 6.5in square blocks. There are not many stripes and no plaids. Victoria you can have all four or if you prefer I could sew them together to make two blocks.
