BOM's Everywhere...I finally started mine...

Hi everyone, its the end of the year...and it seems like so long ago that I posted the tutorial for the Courthouse Block.  Anyway with a bit of fabric inspiration, and an evening of 15 minutes plus...I started making some of the Blocks from the tutorial...I hope to try about 5 or 6 of them, by the time I'm done.

I actually did a Queen V (bumblebeans), I cut up absolutely lovely fabric into pieces and mixed them in with some scraps.  Oh what an exhilerating feeling...

So here are some pics from start to finish...a little more than 15 minutes.  More like 2 1/2 hours.

Now - I have a problem, and none of you can help me with it!  Somehow, I have misplaced all my blocks I made while I was on my summer trip!  We got home from Alaska, and emptied the trailer out - all the laundry, extra food, sewing supplies, fishing gear, and all the souvenirs we'd bought along the way.  That trailer is empty.  And nowhere in any of that stuff that we brought home are the 9 blocks I'd made.  (I made 6 of one kind, and then 3 others).  I've gone back and searched other cubbieholes and drawers, and have yet to find them.  I'm sure they're in the mess somewhere - I just haven't come across them yet.  So frustrating!

I just moved, but I set up an ad hoc sewing area so I could get to sewing right away! I'm trying to catch up on my blocks of the month, and still have quite a few more to make. Here's my most recent additions:

Block number 6 done

Here is my flower block.  However, I wasn't watching close enough and thought that my 6 inch square ruler was a 6 1/2 inch square and now my block is not the same size as all the other blocks it will be playing with.  I thought about changing it or remaking it, but I am going to leave it and see what happens.  I used a darker gray background than I had previously used and I am liking the look. 

Thank goodness, I have plenty to make at least one if not two more blocks with this darkest background.  I also have some medium grays to fill in the inbetween colors.  Right now, I just have the lightest and darkest on the wall. 

Back On Track

 

 

I managed to redo my pinwheel block and I am happy with it now. I had to audition several fabrics for the base of the cactus flower block. Most greens would not have looked good with the teal fabric I am using as the background.

Square in a Star BOM

I was able to complete the Square in a Star. Now on to the Pinwheel!
