BOM's Everywhere...I finally started mine...

Hi everyone, its the end of the year...and it seems like so long ago that I posted the tutorial for the Courthouse Block.  Anyway with a bit of fabric inspiration, and an evening of 15 minutes plus...I started making some of the Blocks from the tutorial...I hope to try about 5 or 6 of them, by the time I'm done.

I actually did a Queen V (bumblebeans), I cut up absolutely lovely fabric into pieces and mixed them in with some scraps.  Oh what an exhilerating feeling...

So here are some pics from start to finish...a little more than 15 minutes.  More like 2 1/2 hours.

Beacon Lights- my June BOM

Here's my June block of the month- Victoria's Beacon Lights block. I love this one! It totally reminds me of summer in these fabrics- faded madras patchwork shorts, tropical prints- I can almost smell the suntan oil. Yes, summer sun is my beacon light!

I found I was getting down to the bottom of my made fabric blocks on this one... time to sew up some more. I gotta be ready for the next block to join this group...

Scrap-Bee January Block

I know, I know, crunch time! Being a procrastinator with a million things to do and another million things going on in my life is NOT a good combination! I am sure Victoria thought I was going to flake out and forget all about her block, but NO WAY!
This was so much fun to make! It really is the first time I have done something completely impromptu! I grabbed my big tote bag of little scraps, and went to town! The middle square IS a yellow, but its a bit darker, like a goldenrod (does anyone actually use that color name anymore? I haven't seen a goldenrod crayola since I was a kid!). I hope this block is bright and cheery enough for you, V!

I haven't trimmed it yet. I am always nervous about trimming blocks for other people since I don't have any square rulers. What if I mess it up? Trim it too small? Victoria, I would prefer to send it untrimmed, but if you really want it trimmed let me know! I plan to put it in the mail tomorrow!

Scrap Bee Blocks for Victoria

With all the snow and ice, I have been stuck in the house so at least I have had time to sew. Here are two blocks I made for Victoria. It is hard not to get in the habit of strip piecing but I am happy with them. They are now in an envelope ready to mail when the ice melts.

SCRAP-BEE January block

I started replenishing my crumb bag with "cheery" fabrics.... and the next thing I knew I had made this block for V! I love this combination- it really put a smile on my face. Now I have to stay focused on finishing my holiday sewing, and not making more and more of these- I think this quilt is gonna rock!
